FLATHEAD ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE NEWS RELEASE

KALISPELL, Montana – Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Annual Meeting & Energy Expo will be held Thursday, April 17 at Flathead Valley Community College’s Wachholz Center. Doors are open to members from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to drop by any time. A brief business meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Rick Dunn, General Manager of Benton Public Utility District and an expert on energy issues in the Pacific Northwest, will discuss resource security and potential solutions for Northwest Montana. Food will be available, and prizes and scholarship drawings will take place, too.

“Last year was the first year of our interactive Energy Expo at the college,” reflected Katie Pfennigs, Community Relations Manager for the Co-op. “Changing the venue and the meeting format allowed us to engage with more of our members in meaningful ways. We learned a lot and incorporated several changes into this year’s event.”

Some of those changes include:

  • Extended Dining Hours & More Seating: To ease congestion, dinner will be served from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. More seating will be available.
  • New Layout for “Pick-A-Prize” & Expo Booths: Most prize drawings will be grouped together. Expo booths and kid-friendly activities will be in the Stinson Family Event Center (gymnasium).
  • Parking Shuttles & Improved Signage: Additional signage and designated shuttle pick-up and drop-off points will assist members in getting from FVCC’s parking lots to the venue.

The Annual Meeting & Energy Expo is designed to offer something for residential members of all ages and nonresidential members, too. The Expo will feature interactive booths, activities, and subject matter experts suited to address a variety of energy interests. Linemen will conduct electric safety demonstrations outside the Wachholz Center. Dan the Magic Man will teach kids of all ages about electricity through his magical safety show. Information about the Co-op’s many community giving programs will be available. A hydroelectric generation model is also included in the Expo.

To enter the April 17 meeting, members should bring their Annual Meeting Notice, sent the week of March 25 via e-mail or postcard. The open-house style Annual Meeting and Energy Expo is open to members from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. FVCC’s Wachholz College Center is located at 795 Grandview Drive in Kalispell.
