Junior League of Boise and Mystik Dan are Winners at the 150th Run for the Roses!
BOISE, ID – The Junior League of Boise’s recent Kentucky Derby Day Celebration, hosted on May 4th at the esteemed Club at SpurWing, marked a significant milestone as the organization commemorated its 96th anniversary. With resounding success, the event raised over $53,000. Attended by more than 120 guests, including esteemed members, sponsors, and community advocates, the occasion underscored the League’s enduring commitment to philanthropy and community engagement.
Notable attractions included a game of heads or tails, a live and silent auction, hat & best-dressed contests, and a paddle raise, culminating in the excitement of witnessing one of the most exciting Kentucky Derby races since 1946. Sponsors and donors from across the Treasure Valley helped make this event a reality – Corwin Ford, K & Co. Family Jewelers, Heritage Bank, Keep Looking Ahead (KLA), Boise Urban Garden School, Bogus Basin, Christina Jacob Photography, Riverside Hotel, Telaya Wine Co. and Idaho Central Credit Union to name just a few!
The second annual Celebration was a pivotal platform for the Junior League of Boise (JLB) to advance its mission of cultivating female leadership and fostering community development initiatives. Funds raised through the Derby Day Gala will support the JLB’s new strategic focus, Hunger and Food Insecurity in the Treasure Valley. As part of JLB’s community impact, the organization is committed to educating its members and the community, empowering individuals to act, and supporting local organizations that aim to improve conditions for those most underserved in the Boise community.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Kristen Schroeder, President of the JLB, expressed gratitude, stating, “Yet again, this event proved to be transformative for our organization and will lay a firm foundation for programming and partnerships for the 2024-2025 League year! Many thanks to our donors, sponsors, and all who contributed to making our 2nd Annual Derby Day event a HUGE success!”
