The MTHS kicks off its public programs on Thursday, Nov. 7, with “Fashion Frontlines: American and Soviet Fashion During the Cold War.” In this presentation by Lindsey Mick, an MTHS archivist, she will explore how fashion became another frontline in the ideological battle between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Mick will look through the lens of Montana newspapers and other media to explore how both Americans and Soviets used fashion to demonstrate their nation’s modernity and cultural superiority during this tense era in world history.

The presentation is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at that Lewis & Clark Library, 120 So. Last Chance Gulch in Helena, and will be filmed, then posted on the MTHS YouTube channel.
